The fourth grade students participated in an online contest called the Sumdog National Math Challenge in December. The students played math games while honing their math skills. Out of the 1,103 schools that participated, RHMS came in 6th overall!

Middle School Model UN Team

The Middle School Model UN Team competed on Saturday, March 3, 2012 in Atlanta with hundreds of students from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, and Texas. The team represented France and Ireland as 5 different committees. Seventh grader, Scarlett Tate, won Best Position Paper for her committee. This is the first award of this type ever won by RHMS in middle or high school.The team consisted of Emma Mitchem, Olivia Terry, Scarlett Tate, Garrett Chappelear, Kenna Coffman, Bonnie Guess, Hannah Gray, Kristin Brown, Madison May, and Jacob White.

The Sequatchie Valley Electric Coop (SVEC) winners are Logan Coates (1st place), Tessela Hughes (2nd place), and Logan Adams (3rd place). 

Students had to write a short story titled "Electric Cooperatives: iPower the Future" describing how your electric cooperative energizes your community by taking an active role in improving lives across its service area. Submissions could not exceed 900 words. The winner  from each school in the SVEC area receives an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. during the summer.

Miss Haley Jordan, a 5th grade teacher at RHMS, was featured on News Channel 9 on Tuesday, February 14 as the Educator of the Week.

Mrs. Mandy Swafford, 2nd grade teacher at RHMS, was featured on News Channel 9 on Tuesday, March 30 as the Educator of the Week.


Golden Apple Award Winner - February 15, 2011

Mrs. Bailey Henley, a Kindergarten teacher at RHMS, was featured as News Channel 12  on Wednesday, February 15 as the Golden Apple Teacher of the Week .


Brice Rogers won Best Delegate runner-up at the 2011 University of Tennessee - Knoxville High School Model UN in January.


2010 Voice of Democracy Essay Winner - Blake Tate


Mrs. Connie Lawson, 4th grade teacher at RHMConnie receiving her awardS, received the 2010 Tennessee Outstanding Social Studies Teacher of the Year award on March 12th in Memphis, TN. This award was offered by the Tennessee Council of the Social Studies.
